We had one day of notice (a sign that said it was today and telling you to the water board office or check on line for details) that our water would be off supposedly between 8 and noon. Also the waterboard office is only open until noon each week day and we saw the sign at 2 pm.  We are at 3:36 pm and still no water. And since it is late fall it ( Read more... )

The waterboard office doesn't sound very organised! I hope everything is back on now.

We have had two elections as they only replace two positions per election for continuity purposes. So over these two elections people who ran were a slate of candidates who wanted to take over the board. Now they are in the majority of the board. It all started when some folks got on a disinformation bandwagon about the women who had been the administrator for several decades. They were awful to her and she said see ya I don't need the abuse. She was a gem and extremely knowledgeable. It was a huge loss. It was much like when the guy responsible for the work of maintaining, testing and the like died suddenly about maybe 10 years ago. His replacement was great. He eventually left as he needed to focus on his business.

Boo ): I assume it was some kind of urgent issue they had to address that meant such short notice and poor planning on the timeline, but still. I'll not soon forgot the time my neighborhood was told the water would be off starting at 11 pm (and they would work overnight) but then they just . . . changed their minds and started working at 7pm, with everyone still in the middle of cooking, clearing up dinner, and bathing kids.

It was not an urgent issue. They had done some work over a period of months for a replacement pipe (still. not sure it was needed) . Then nothing happened for a while and then they put up a sign weeks ago at the entry point to the neighbourhood that they would be hooking up the new pipe with no dates on the sign. Then we had to leave our place on Monday for something and when we got home at 2 pm there were dates on the signs. So it was posted sometime over the weekend. Anyway it didn't affect us on Monday as we learned the big area water shut off was on Tuesday. The people affected by the Monday shut off were all notified personally ahead of time. And apparently there is still more to do on Friday and those people have been notified personally. Also of course we were facing an incoming weather event on the Tuesday.
