I Don't Get This

There are some things that have been going on lately that I don't understnad WHy they're a big deal or understand why people did those things.

Crimson Tide Coach With Strippers Ok, the Alabama coach went to a strip club and supposedly I guess had strippers in a hotel room or something. What's the big deal? Its his personal life. Unless the ( Read more... )

Hi dude... Well, I saw ur profile and have to admit u seem to be a super expressive person and very down to earth. I'm 18, living down here in the Hialeah area and currently a Junior at FIU. Have been wondering what UF is like. Do u like it up there? The school? The city? It's weird cuz I've thought of moving up there for /maybe/ graduate school, but you know how the hispanic family is. When I was graduating from highschool, my mom gave me the "I cant believe you are abandoning this family" speech with a side of tears. Well, guilt trip worked simply cuz it's true that I graduated at a young age and should do a little growing up before moving away...

Anywho, I added ya to my friend's list. I'd like to hear from ya!!!

I took AP in HS, but sometimes I wish I took dual enrollment as well. In fact, AP is harder than just taking the class dual enrollment at a local community college. You don't have to take that test. Also, my jr or sr yr in HS, they made it where you had to take ther AP classes the whole year instead of ust one semester or teh other. BUT, I did like interning for the Disability Affairs Office in Broward County, which is somehting I don't think that I would have been able to do if I did do dual enrollment ( ... )

hey. i was just wondering if you ever got that internship with Bob Graham. If you did, are you going to be stuck doing presidential campaigning stuff for him and would you even though he's a dem?

Bob Graham nightowl301 May 8 2003, 11:30:32 UTC
No. I was rejected from bob Graham's office. )o: But, if I was accepted, I don't think they could have me doing work for him as a SENATE Intern.

My job would be to serve his 18 million constituents in FLorida not to double as a campaign worker. I think that woudl have ethical issues written all over it. Using free work for your Senate office to benefit your Presidential campaign? I have gotten on the UF Poli Sci List Serv stuff about interning for his cmapaign too.

Now, if BOb Graham wanted me to do stuff for his Senate campaign as an intern, even though I'm not a Democrat, I woudl probably do it. Well, b/c I'm a professional and it is my job to do what my boss tells me to do.

Also, BOb Graham is an underdog right now if you hear anyone on Fox News, CNN, or MSNBC talk about him. So if somehow his campaign propelled and really took off, it woudl make me look good. LOL I could be like George Stephanopolous, except about 10 inches taller...

as tina fey said, "at least our president isn't like a psycho thrid world dictator and dresses in army uniform." That's kinda funny. Good use of ironic humour. WHo's Tina Fey ( ... )

tina fey=newsperson on saturday night live

and yes, i have taken united states history. i am not a moron. i do go to school. :)
southern democrats are backwards, especially in the state of west virgina. my history teacher told us this in 8th grade. but today if slavery was offered up as an option, west virginia would be most likely to take it. they are some of the racist people in all of the country.
as for the whole southern democrat thing, way back they needed a way to run against people that thought slavery was bad, the republicans, so they just claimed themselves democrat so they could run on opposite sides of the field.

I know you're not stupid. Also Iwasn't talking about US History, I was talking about a Southern HIstory course b/c US History tends to neglect the whole story on the South I think. It only broadly generallizes it.

THere's racist peopel everywhere! Even in California! Like Mark Fuhrman. OR, there are also big concentrations of people like the Church of the Creator and the SKinheads, they're in Idaho, and Montana, and Eastern Washington State. I think that the KKK was also big in Indiana and thats the midwest...

I think the point about Bill Bennett is that he has managed to squander away 8 million freaking dollars on gambling, that, not the practice of gambling, is immoral...A man who writes a series of book about virtues isn't exactly going to come off as an authority on being "virtuous" if he basically wasted away that much money. That's not just casual gambling( which, in my opinion, is fine), instead, that is a gambling addiction. And well, he's made a living on telling others how to act. Hypocrite might need to be added to his list of credentials. Perhaps this is why Jesse Jackson "retired" after his extramarital affairs came to light. Why would anyone listen to JJ after that? He no longer had any room to talk, and neither does Bill Bennett.

Did you ever see PCU, the movie? It's on Comedy Central alot. It was soo funny b/c it had alotta the college stereotypes. It's kinda like Univ of FLA, but smaller.

As you've probably noticed, I kinda have a "Libertarian" mindset on alotta things, but I do not consider myself a "libertarian". I saw how alotta Libertarians acted with the war and I wasn't impressed and was turned off by it.

About PC, peopel today cna't take a joke and get too easily offended, BUT I think its just dumb if someone tries to go and say the "n-word" or say that this country was better off w/ segregation or somehting crazy like that. I think they have the first amendment to say it BUT that if someone is pissed off at them and beats the crap out of them, then the asshole deserves it for being a dumbass...

PCU....haha...remember the part when they dump sausages on the feminist protest? "Hey hey, ho ho, this penis party's gotta go"...pretty funny.

I agree with you 100% on the 1st Amendment

It's a Yarmulke!!! I think... hehe. But wearing a cross, I think that's going overboard. It's not like she brought a life-sized statue of a cruxified Jesus and told the kids, "Worship or burn in hell... With an F!!!" haha ( ... )

Like I said, crosses cna be just decoration. Of course, she was doing it b/c she felt compelled as a Christian to wear somethign of the cross, which I believe is her right of free speech to do so ( ... )

No, he LOST 8 million, although I'm not sure over how long of a period. So, just imagine what he must have put out there...I think the guy can do whatever he wants. Whatever, that's his deal. But uh, stop writing the books--addiction is not a virtue.
