[Voice/Ami]

This may seem sort of a strange question suddenly, but please tell me about your families.

[Ami's having one of those days where the distance between herself and her family and friends seems too vast and too real. Later, to focus her mind, she'll train in the battle dome, partners and visitors welcome.]

There's not much I want to say about my family, I suppose, but why do you ask, Ami?

I was missing Mama, a little, and home. I thought it might help to talk about them all a little.

Oh. Well...that's rather unfortunate, darling. And your father as well?

I haven't seen him since I was young, but I would like to.

[...it's a deepseated sign of trust that he's even answering you, Ami.]

My family were all in the same business.

I hated it.

What sort of business was it? [She can't help sympathizing a little, as the girl who was always expected to become a doctor, but she had ended up choosing it for herself.]

It's a bit hard to explain. The job might not even exist in your world.

[So did Giles, in the end, although mostly for reasons of his own fear and shame.]

No one has to answer, if they don't want to. I just thought it would be nice to talk about. I've been missing mine.

[nods]

... they only family I had back home was my mother. I later found out that I have an aunt, my mother's younger sister. I have no idea who my father is.

My father travels as an artist. I haven't seen him since I was young. Mama raised me; she's a doctor, and she's a lot of why I became one.

My grandmother, my dad, and I all lived together back home. We were very close.

It sounds very wonderful. [She almost wants to ask what about the mother, or any siblings; but it's not a question she'd like to answer beyond the barest bones herself.]

You must miss them very much here.

I've never been separated from them for this long.

I've got a little brother back home. And a son.

A son! How cruel to bring you away!

Yeah... thanks. I just made him a promise I wouldn't go off to war again as it is... damn.

At least I'm told he won't notice the time I'm gone at least, so that's... kind of a help.

But you still want to be with him, isn't that right?
