Come see me at Macy's

Apr 26, 2006 07:51

Your mom shops at Macy's. And my elbow will be better before your back. Strained back, who does that?

You're going down next time we play. Pansy.

Just kidding. You totally remind me of a younger version of myself. You should try to get traded down to San Diego, I would totally take you under my wing and show you the ways of the man-hat.

Um, Shawn, the MPD/dissociative identity journal is over there.

I could never leave SF, for a lot of reasons. I don't really look good in a fedora, either. Wrong head shape.

Yeah, whatevs. You ever want out of that hellhole, you let me know. I'll talk to my buddy Piazza and he will get it all hooked up. I know you're not going to be happy playing with that fatass loser jason_schmidt for much longer.

Semiotics is concerned with everything that can be taken as a sign. A sign is everything which can be taken as significantly substituting for something else. This something else does not necessarily have to exist or to actually be somewhere at the moment in which a sign stands in for it. Thus semiotics is in principle the discipline studying everything which can be used in order to lie. If something cannot be used to tell a lie, conversely it cannot be used to tell the truth; it cannot in fact be used 'to tell' at all. I think that the definition of a 'theory of the lie' should be taken as a pretty comprehensive program for a general semiotics.
