dear everyone on my facebook feed who is saying shit like "we're doomed," "this is the beginning of the end" and "this is the downfall of america
( Read more... )
Ha, wow... doom, end, downfall... that's exactly what so many people (probably different people) said four years ago after Bush got reelected... interesting...
and those people were annoyingly reactionary too, because here we are. still, I think I see more bawwwing about obama's win than I remembered about bush.
it will be interesting to see how the pro-america go-patriotism crowd reacts to having a leader they obviously dislike.
Come on AP, do you really believe for a minute that just b/c republicans or conservatives dislike obama or pout b/c he was elected that means that somehow they reject the democratic process? I need to get my long boots on to walk through that BS.
Why dont you go ahead and support the first amendment privilege of the republicans and conservatives to vent their dislike for obama and his election?
And while we're at it let's fact check your LJ and see if you passed down your moralizing judgment when Loopy Leftist and Fannie Feminazi vowed to flee to canada if bush won.
I mean what the hell? Complacent in my power? where do you get this nonsense--- Marxist Propaganda Daily?

a) it's not just conservatives pouting, it's conservatives saying that because people have voted, america is ruined. verbatim. I can copy and paste like, 8 examples for you if you'd like. I am talking to those people.
b) I support their first amendment rights. I don't see how you could think, by exercising my free speech, I am not supporting theirs. They can vent all they want and I can think they're silly.
c) yes, I thought it was extremely stupid when leftists cried about moving to France or compared Bush to Hitler. overreaction is overreaction. of course I think people were complacent about power, otherwise they wouldn't be so horrified at the thought of the pendulum swinging back as it always has. yes I made a post about it when bush was elected but much of my journal from then, I made private.

saying america is ruined IS NOT THE SAME as saying the democratic process is in error or that it's not a good thing people voted.
You're conflating TWO SEPARATE CONCEPTS. in other words--you're being a partisan hack that only your liberal friends listen to and everyone else just rejects, step back step back, you dont know me like that.

I know it's not the same thing, but make a venn diagram, the ideas overlap. and yes, I know conservatives who don't like the idea everyone can vote. it's one thing to dislike a choice, it's another thing to dislike that the choice exists.

"You think there will be elections again? Haven't you read the Communist Manifesto?
This is the the dictatorship of the proletariat. "
"As far as the Military vote goes, I think I speak for the majority, we lost our brothers and sisters for nothing now. You, the civilian population have failed us. You do not deserve the protections we die for. Congradulations comrades, you have doomed us all."
WORD. I'm so proud of our country right now and not just because of Obama, but because so many people voted and got involved. I think it's funny that some people on fbook are threatening to ~move to Canada~. because canada is so much more conservative and less socialist than america...
regardless of political affiliation, this is a historic occassion and everyone should be proud of that.
the lolzy thing is: how are they gonna be (their version of) patriotic if they hate the government? and there is not even a more conservative democracy they can move to...
well there were also people saying that people who didn't support the bush government etc were unpatriotic so i just wonder if they will support the obama government as wholeheartedly
I just mean it's not really contestable who got the majority. I was a little afraid of another florida snafu but it was a lot less close than I expected.

Um...check your [recent] history:
