First off, the good news. Marla is doing awesome, as near as I can tell. She has tons more energy and was last weighed at 38.8lbs, which is basically one pound away from her normal weight. I think we are pretty much out of the woods, for the time being at least! She got her sutures out last Saturday and had put on a little weight, too--up to 35.8 lbs. Though she HAD just eaten her hefty breakfast, so I'm sure that affected it a little--but at least she hadn't LOST any weight ( Read more... )

Marla's diarrhea had not resolved by this morning, despite being on Flagyl since Sunday, so I withheld her AM dose of Keflex (antibiotic) and started feeding her a bland diet of white rice and boiled ground white turkey meat, rinsed to reduce the fat even more. I called the vet to ask if it would be advisable to stop the antibiotics, and she agreed ( Read more... )

Marla had an ultrasound and x-rays done almost two weeks ago, and they discovered a mass on her intestine as well as a portion of the intestine that appeared thickened. Also at the same time her blood albumin levels were rechecked and they had stayed the same (at 2). The radiologist thought the thickening could be inflammation from IBD ( ( Read more... )

I have found a place to live in Portland, or so I think. The lady said I could have it, and asked where to send the lease, and I said "YES!" and gave her my address, but I haven't heard a word since, and have not yet received a lease.
