CAKE are playing in London in July. I'll be stuck in Evesham. Bah.

They're playing in Indigo2, which is inside The O2, which is what used to be called the Millennium Dome. Indigo2. Ick. It somehow seems dirtier than referring to the Carling Academy.

I thought Indian Summers were meant to happen in the autumn, not July?

The Flaming Lips are playing Indian Summer Glasgow. I think this means I'm going to have to go. Anyone else fancy it?

The other day I saw someone in Television Centre wearing a 'Radio Clyde 261' t shirt. Radio Clyde was Glasgow's first local radio station - one of the first commercial radio stations in the country, and pretty much what I grew up listening to. I've just watched a programme on BBC One about the sneaky tricks supermarkets use to make us spend more money. It didn't actually tell me anything I didn't know, I realised as I ate my buy one get one free tortelloni, and drank a glass of wine which was discounted and sitting on an aisle end in Asda...

I just tried the budget calculator on the BBC News website. It reckons that next year I'll be £1.90 better off. I'm rich!

I went to the dentist last week. First time in four years (and with my mum nagging me all that time). And it was a relatively painless experience - a couple of X-rays, which didn't even require leaving the chair, and a fancy digital camera shot from inside my mouth, which he showed me seconds later, to show how I could do with the plaque being ( Read more... )

• Having more than 48 hours in the city over a weekend. I felt a bit guilty over the weekend for not trying to cram lots in, because I didn't have to.

I thought that me and 6.30am had come to a pretty good arrangement over the past month or so: we both kind of ignored each other's existence, and we got along just fine. But now I'm suddenly re-acquainted with such an early hour, and I can't say I'm enjoying it.

After my course finishes here on Friday, I don't have to be in work again till Wednesday. I reckon I should do something useful with my time off. Anything exciting going on in Glasgow* that I could gatecrash?

* Or elsewhere in the country. Or the world, for that matter.

My birthday's coming up in a couple of weeks' time, and while I'm going to be up at Wood Norton on the day itself, I'll be back in London for the weekend.

It would be nice to do something exciting that's not just going to the pub, but I can't think what. Any suggestions, anyone?
