Accusations, Part 17. I ♥ my beta,
julietm for being with me through all five versions of this prompt. It just wasn't right...until now. I'm still wrestling with the muse for more...I hope we can wrap this up soon. :)

“I’m just doing my job, Gary,” Don explained. “And it’s not looking so good for Agent Walker right now.”
Colby swallowed hard as his hands clenched into fists. He knew Don had reasons for his accusations against Callie. Colby also knew he was partly responsible… after all, he knew better than to withhold information - regardless of the risk.
“Well, maybe you should ask more questions before you go accusing my little girl of being a traitor,” Gary scowled.
“And just who should we ask?” Don quipped, getting restless. “Doesn’t seem like she made much time for friends.”
“Listen here Eppes…” Walker barked stepping forward.
“Hey… this isn’t getting us anywhere, fellas,” David sighed putting himself between Gary and Don. “Let’s take a step back and try to think about this… like men, okay?”
Gary gave a reluctant nod in Sinclair’s direction before easing himself away.
“Now… for what other reason would she be distracted?” Megan asked, thankful that David was maintaining his presence between the two men with gazes locked.
The air was thick with silence as the group considered the possibilities… each moment of stillness weighing heavy on Callie’s fate.
Several long moments later, Colby sighed reluctantly.
“She was distracted… because she had a date.”
Instantly, all eyes were on him and his hands slipped into his back pockets as was his nervous habit.
“Now just how the hell would you know that?” Gary raised an eyebrow.
“Because she had a date with me,” Colby answered, meeting Gary’s unforgiving stare. “We were supposed to have dinner… at my place. But she didn’t show up.”
“Well that settles it,” David began, a smile widening across his face. “She’s not a traitor… she’s just crazy,” he teased before he too found himself under the infamous scrutinizing glare of Lt. Walker.
