This means Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, where I shall be from 09:00 tomorrow morning until, inshallah, sometime on Friday. I'm going to have this fixed. More fun and games chez number1son!

Call came at 09:00 -- I'm on the list, and struggling to get to grips with the reality. Formalities will be completed next week when I go in to hospital to have a hernia fixed (never a dull moment chez moi!).

M (our Mauritian aide) is sick. Infected sinuses. Tragedy strikes the number1son household as we are reduced to eating Swiss-style. One word sums it all up: urgh.

It is one o'clock in the morning on the first of January 2006. I haven't had a drop of alcohol since 29 November 2005, and apart from the occasional yearning for a decent pint of bitter, I notice no difference from life before. So what is this alcoholism that I'm accused of then?

ENT examination this morning. The gentleman doctor was kind enough to shove an illuminated hosepipe up my nose, bless him. After poking around for a few minutes, and between my contribution of multiple noisy dry heaves, he pronounced my ears, nose and throat a cancer-free zone. As I said, bless him ( Read more... )
