Eight fresh sardines
I bought eight fresh sardines today.
Because I'm no Opus I don't do so well with fish guts, so I had the fishmonger gut them. Because I like making my own fish stock I had the fishmonger keep the heads for me, but bag them separately.
And now I'm looking forward to grilling them up for supper. Marinade suggestions are welcome.

I went to an Assessment and Development Centre on Friday.
Maybe your profession doesn't have these -- my proper profession certainly doesn't, but I took the Queen's shilling long ago, I'm operating in the Civil Service world and ADCs are part of the career structure.

Pie time
I haven't hosted a Thanksgiving dinner in a few years, but this week for Sukkot I made a pumpkin pie (two, actually) and served them as part of an afternoon cream tea (which justified buying a can of spray whipped cream, though I also bought half-fat creme fraiche for the grownups).

Buying skin?
When I got my phone a few months ago I also bought a chic-looking but rather awkward case. The phone slides in two directions and is mostly screen, so there isn't a lot of scope for casing it, but it was new and sleek and I didn't want to get it scratched. The Elephant Garlic Stone
You know the Stone Soup story, I expect. Today I made stone soup, but I started with a head of elephant garlic from Secretts.

I stopped at Stonehenge on my way to Warminster today. I haven't stopped for a visit in a while. I didn't go into the site itself -- just found what I hoped would be a quiet spot on a nearby track.
