Went to an open jam. Here are the problems with them. The host band stays on stage and plays a dozen or so songs, a good hour and a half to 2 hours worth. Goohead found an article in the local paper about a party being hosted by St John's Military Academy. It amounted to a cattle call so that the boys could meet eligible young girls for potential invitation to their midwinter ball. I finally have the job I've wanted for so friggin' long. I'm a field service tech for a decent company with good work to do and the faith of the people I work with that I am perfectly capable of doing it. The pay ain't so great but I've gotten used to that. Now we can work on getting our situation stable again.

This evening I went to a small bar in a tiny town north of here for an unplugged open jam. This one was truly unplugged, no PA and only one amp for the bass guitar.
