On top of the world you get nothing done
Talk is cold and burns like the sun
Can't you see these skies are breaking?
Cos the top of the world is where I'm from

The back of the class is where I was
Staying quiet, playing dumb
Can't you see these skies are breaking?
Cos the back of the class is where I'm from

And I am One; I am
I am One
I am, I am, I am, I am, I am.

I'm on a race and it's killing time
I don't need yours, I'll keep it with mine
Can't you see these skies are breaking?
Cos I'm on a race and I'm doing fine, thank you

Two of a kind and no one home
I'm in a crowd and I'm still alone
Can't you see these skies are breaking?
Cos one of a kind is all I own

Notes

This vidlet was made for the Reverie Style Contest, in which vidders submit vid(let)s without any distinguishing titles/watermarks etc, and others try to guess which vidder made what video. There was also a blind feedback session prior to the vidders being unveiled, which was a very eye-opening and ultimately satisfying experience.

Out of interest, 11 out of 20 of the guesses submitted guessed correctly that the vid was made by me, which was comparatively on the high side. The most popular wrong guess was charmax, which I take to be a great compliment.

(endolyn, when you asked me whether I vidded Heroes, we were actually smack in the middle of the blind feedback session. Ergo awkward answer. :) )

I came to this vid without much of a game plan in terms of themes and narrative. In that respect it's quite visually driven; a lot of clip choice hinged on whether it's pretty rather than its contextual significance. I think that might also be why I ended up having so much fun with it - it's always really nice not having to worry about communicating big themes that people may or may not pick up.

Vid in a nutshell
I think all points are pretty self-evident. The Sylar/Mohinder wasn't exactly intended; it was pretty much a side effect that popped itself in effortlessly. Ah, canon subtext, how I love thee.

Editing, etc.
This vid took one day to make. I came home at 6pm, sat down, opened Premiere and vidded for the whole night. Exported the final product by 2am. Chronologically this vid slots in between Come Undone and Girls and Boys, and is the main reason why I've managed to post so many vids recently - after working from an opposite assumption for a very long time, I discovered with this vid that it is possible to spend a minimal amount of time on a vid, yet still be pleased with how it turns out.

Tech
Nothing in the way of effects that's particularly shiny, although this vid did mark a first in that it's the first time I've used downloaded AVIs instead of DVD source. Not much difference really - just used avisynth scripts directly referencing the Xvid AVIs, and remembered to edit in 23.976fps.
