Clair is cocky, when she feels things are going her way. And she's had Grey in her custody for weeks. He's not beaten, she knows, but he knows the lay of the land, and what lines not to cross. She knows this.

Private notes on the status of Clair's two remaining test subjects.
Malloway is beginning to develop an insensitivity to the ZJ, I think. This merits more testing, but it's not promising. He has recieved the equivelant of more than two hundred doses in eighteen months. He no longer responds to stimulous at all, but I believe his coma is still reversible. The Dreaming is huge. A small slice of infinity. Clair and Angie are tiny in it, and trapped, it becomes that much more threatening. They search for familiar face or familiar dreams. -

For Otto, Clair got a great many books, and all the little things she knew he wanted for her lab. That this involved taking him for a Christmas Day heist at a research facility in New York may have been part of the gift.
