It can be alright. Just look up the symptoms. treatment is something fierce so I would avoid it unless you are symptomatic. <3 People rarely get to that point.
Sorry my reply was so curt and to the point. I was typing with one hand and holding onto a screamy baby with the other.
Basically you have enough things to worry about. Don't worry about this.
Do you think you are experiencing symptoms?
Different CF centers treat it differently. The one I'm currently at likes to treat it with IVs for 3 months which is kinda nuts but probably good if you want that shit gone quick.
When I was symptomatic I was going to the center in Seattle, which is huge, also a transplant center. Their method of treatment was 3 oral antibiotics for a year or so. It took about a month to be symptom free but I'd still take that over lugging IVs around for 3 months.
Be aware of the symptoms and at the first sign talk to your providers. Find a treatment that works for you.
MAC is a little bitch, but it's not the end of the world. And though the number of people who have actually had it treated are few, we do exist. We are around, and ready to lend you an ear if you need to vent.
I was treated for this about a year ago and I would highly recommend against it. It was a fucking disaster. About 6 months of my life, gone, and I still have it. It's hard to eradicate, they thought it was worth a go but I wish I'd understood better, when I decided to go with that, how much it would suck.
Having it has no apparent impact on me, but it's only been about 18 months, and varies per person and over time.
