It's gone. All gone. A gigantic hail storm hit Tuesday night. Roof is totally shot, as is all of garden, grape vines, cherry and apple trees (they look worse today than yesterday), catalpa trees, pear tree, all food grown, all roses, etc. Our decks are ruined. I'm spending time in the lovely garden, which is groaning with blooming pink roses, peonies, poppies, and iris, just to mention some of the blooms. Food is growing abundantly. I'm going to see my beloved step mom in MI, who is 98 and in failing health. When first apprised of my arrival next week she was very happy. Now, it seems, she is very unhappy. Livejournal apparently infected my (college-owned) computer. This is my last post to LJ and I do not dare read any more either. Bummer.

My father died peacefully last night. I return to Colorado this afternoon. At this point no service is planned. I loved my father very much.

He appears to be immortal. He is no longer conscious, but after a week of no fluids, no food, he continues to live. He appears in no distress, but this is very hard, especially on my beloved step mom. I am glad I am with him but feel that I can provide no real comfort. I hate this.

John Hill and I are engaged! We have rings, a date (Sept. 24) and invitations are in process. The wedding will be right at sunset in our back yard. Kindly hope for good weather. All the children are coming with blessings (they knew each other as kids so this part is very cool)and so is my sister and step-mom; John's folks are gone,unfortunately ( Read more... )

In just over the last 100 days my/our lives have undergone some tremendous upheaval and change. And more is coming.
