Hey! That cat is gorgeous!!! Randy and I adopted a kitten from the humane society when it was 2 weeks old, and we didn't want to get him declawed either because I heard how much pain it was to them. But I did it because after he was about 2 months old, he started scratching and clawing at everything. It was only $100 and the vet gave us this special cat litter that doesn't hurt them during the healing process. He is doing fine now and uses regular cat litter and has no problem. The vet told us that the younger you do it, the less timid and mean they will be. If you decide to do it, I would do it before she is 6 months. Well, that's my imput! I hope all is well!

Although I feel really bad about doing it, I think we will end up getting her declawed when we get her spayed, just her front paws. The most important reason being that I don't want her scratching Gavyn when she gets old enough and into her little scratching phase. So since she's still so tiny and young, I think this would be the ideal time, we'll probably bring her to the vet either tomorrow or next Wed. Thanks for the input, she's acting the same and using the litter box as usual right?

Yeah, the special litter the vet gave us was called "Yesterday's News" (It's also sold at Petsmart) It worked really well until he healed completely. He now uses regular litter like normal. His scratches hurt so bad, Randy and I would have scratches all over from when he had his little temper tantrums. Lol. I felt like crap doing it, but it's for the better, and plus we have a leather couch in our apartment that really doesn't need to be scratched up lol. Since your kitten is so young, she probably won't even remember it happening when she gets older.

Also, we only got his front claws done, so that he can defend himself if necessary.

Congrats! She's beautiful!

We started with soft paws and they work well, but our cat hates them and spends a lot of time trying to pull them off. I ran out and have just been trimming her nails ever week, and while she scratches at stuff, she doesn't do any damage.

Thank you! I've heard from quite a few people that they try to pull them off, and most of them succeed. We may end up getting her front paws declawed so that she doesn't scratch Gavyn :\
