Oh, wow. Talk about an emotional roller-coaster. I'm so sorry.... and I definitely do understand the sort of conflicting feelings around your mom, and her finding relief from pain, and your own relief too.

I don't think there is any way to be completely, 100% ready to let go and say goodbye to someone that you love, but I do think that the relief part of it can help when the time does come, at least just a little bit.

I hope she does recover enough from this that you can really enjoy being together over the holiday, but I get this visit is going to carry an edge to it no matter what. Remember that you have people in your life who give a darn, and lean on them if you need to, okay?

I'm so sorry to hear that your mom isn't doing well but glad she made it through this latest scare- at least long enough that you can spend one more Christmas together. Call me if you ever need someone to talk to or anything. And tell your mom hi from me when you see her (if you think she would even remember me- it's been so long and I only saw her a handful of times) and give her my best. *hugs*
