So I think exhausted might be a fair summation of my state right now. I've spent most of the week running round gathering technology acceptance tests for InLOT and this has meant working with small children. I have a typewriter. It's all very exciting!

Occasionally I wonder if I do something to upset the neighbours you know... Next door is to let *again*!

So this morning I got to solve a work-related emergency using only a bike pump, 2 cocktail sticks, the inside of a biro and stupid amounts of hazard tape. Some days I love my job!

So it seems that Paramount are going to make a new film version of "Dune". I can't help but feel a little worried about this; partly because, despite all it's faults, I think that the David Lynch version did a pretty good job of distilling what is easily six hours of material into a cinema-length film and partly because they're asking Brian Herbert ( Read more... )

Recently it's occurred to me that I write large amounts of text much better when I'm not editing it as I go along. Obviously, writing on a PC means that the temptation to mess around with things on the screen as you go is huge, so I've decided that a typewriter will be the way forward, at least for first drafts. I suspect that the workmen 'fixing' the boilers in Staff House may not have quite finished yet. Apparently the power went out on campus yesterday (I was in Leicester at the time). Normally this would only be a source of minor irritation to me as it would only mean uptime counters getting reset, however in this case we seem to have lost a server (pascal). *gnashes teeth*
