Kick ass!

Is the job an on site job in $CITY? Or can one telecommute from $OTHER_CITY?

I'd have thought that it had to be in $CITY, but they recently suggested making one of the people on my project someone from $OTHERCITY or maybe $OTHERCOUNTRY. I won't let that happen, because developers on my project need to be in really close communication.

However, we're hiring someone for a legacy project in which communication between developers is mostly done via wiki. I wouldn't want to brave the VPN day in and day out, but it could be done.

It made me snicker to imagine atuttle working on this project. This is six years of rushed legacy code. With his need to create order, he'd be like a Roomba making its slow and deliberate journey over a post-nuclear wasteland.

I miss you so much! Can I come for a low stress visit in the fall some time? Maybe around your birth day?

Yeah. The project I'm working on is due at the end of October. My birthday is probably the last quiet until it's done.

I'd hire that person, too, even on the basis of "mathematical modeling," which sounds like something they'd make "Beauty and the Geek" contestants do.
