The Good, The Bad, The Surprise
Good stuff- Zane is still the sweetest little guy ever. Last time I dropped him off at day care (he has only 8 hours/week there), he didn't fuss at all.
- The shed out back is going from being a 'shack' to a work area. It has walls and a ceiling. By the end of the day, it will have floors. It has insulation and is reasonably flea-proof, wasp-proof ( Read more... )

Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D
If you get a chance, I'd recommend seeing this.
Previously, I recommended Superman Returns on IMAX 3D, but I took it back because it's only eight minutes of 3D in over two hours of movie, so it's a gyp.
Previously, I recommended Polar Express on IMAX 3D, and I stand by it even though it's a really stupid movie and also really expensive.

The Dead in Iraq: IraqBodyCount's 45,000 to John Hopkins' 600,000
When a John Hopkins survey in 2004 that 100,000 civilians had died since the beginning of the Iraq war, there was a big flurry. Neo-cons said the number was impossible. I think they were still claiming the deaths were in four digits. Some pointed to Iraq Body Count, a site which opposes the war and put the confirmed deaths in the high teens ( Read more... ) -

A computer I built two years ago with lots of help from you guys (and finally a computer specialist in town) has been dead for a couple of months. I think I've resolved it to a problem in the motherboard. I'd like to hear what you think about it, particularly if you think the problem might be with CPU or memory instead.

There's a few libertarians on my friends list. I was considering writing up an essay explaining why, on the federal level, voting for Democrats best serves the libertarian ideals. I've found an essay that says the less inflammatory things my essay would say. -
Zane is One
Zane is one year old as of yesterday. It's been a very tough but very good year. I'm really proud of the little guy, and it's really great to see him be able to do a little more and understand a little more every day. He's cheerful, open and endlessly inquisitive. I feel really grateful for every moment I get to spend with him.
