book report and general update
I finished reading Ian M Banks's "Transitions" last night. I think it's the first of his non-Culture sci-fi novels that I've read and really liked. In fact, he's had a bit of a dry spell lately and it's good to see him returning to likability. The novel didn't tickle my brain with the grand sweep of things quite as much as a lot of the Culture ( Read more... ) -
3 months with a Civic Hybrid
I've been driving a Honda Civic Hybrid for the last 3 months. I
bought it at the end of May and have put about 6,000 miles on it.
This, after buying a regular Civic in 2006 and driving it for 3 years.
I'm fairly happy with it, but it has some glaring defects.
( let me count the problems ) -

It's a sad commentary on the world. I just got a 419 spam via Skype.

Hiring
I'm looking to for a new coworker. Specifically, Trion needs another Ruby on Rails Developer to work on account management and billing systems. Ideally, I'd like someone who can help me navigate best practices and do things "The Rails Way", since that makes everything easier but isn't always obvious to me ( Read more... ) -
Kindle. Addictive
It's a sad commentary on the addictiveness of the Kindle that I just repurchased White Night so I could read it via Kindle instead of the hard cover I already own.

Atkins progress report
Today is the end of the 3rd week of Atkins. I'm still going. I hit 188 today. 3 lbs more than my target weight, but I think I'll have to revise that target downward to compensate for what seems to be a lot of water weight loss during the first two weeks ( Read more... )
