Went to the U.S. embassy of Paris this morning. Nicole and I were about to start the process for the K-1 "fiancé" visa which is long (from 2 to 8 months), rocky (any mistakes in the forms and they can postpone your demands or stop the whole process), paranoiac-terrifying (it's all by mail, you never speak to anybody, you never know what's happening

hey, glad to hear things are moving along with your plans...on a completely separate topic, i just wanted to know how long the post office will hold a package or mail before they send it back....cause i'm trying to order my books for next semester from amazon.fr but i'm afraid if i'm on vacation or i'm not there, they'll be sent back...just wondering.. thanx :)

The post office will keep a package for 15 days, unless you call them, but even then they could only keep it for a few more days. The best would be that someone here checks your mail. If not, you can still take your chance and call the post office.

Merci. 1000 francs pour la traduction! j'ai vu sur un site, je ne sais plus lequel, celui de l'ambassade peut-être, que c'était 30€ maintenant. Et puis peut-être qu'elle peut en avoir un en français directement ici, on verra.

il faut que ce soit une traduction d'un traducteur certifie par l'Etat francais, ils sont affiches en mairie.

oui c'est vrai, je suis allé retirer le dossier de mariage aujourd'hui, et le type m'a photocopié la liste des traducteurs officiels.
Bon, le plus difficile maintenant est pour elle de récupérer le birth certificate, apparemment c'est pas simple : si elle fait ça par mail simple, ça prend 6 semaines ! donc elle va faire autrement..
Mais alors maintenant, pour tout déménager en 3 semaines et se marier en même temps, ça va pas être simple ..
