The true story is here.

OK, the ending is... STOP READING HERE IF ANYONE DOESN'T WANT TO KNOW LALALLA OK STOP READING I MEAN IT... the man gets bitten by a shark towards the end of the first day and bleeds to death overnight. The diving boat realizes their mistake the next day and sends out rescue boats and planes. The couple has drifted so far from the original course, though, that they don't find them. The woman is holding on to the man's body but takes it off the air tank (which is keeping him afloat), and then his body is eaten by sharks. She then finds herself completely surrounded by sharks (whether or not she is hallucinating or not is unclear) and takes herself off her tank, letting herself drown rather than be eaten alive. Over the credits, a fisherman find the couple's camera in the stomach of a shark he caught.
