You are obviously not very informed on the issue. Society alienates gay love because they do not allow homosexuals to marriage. Yes, I agree that it is elementary and simple: "One couple can marry, another cannot."

Your statement "equal AND diverse" is a fancy twist of words. The love is equal, the expression (aka two vaginas versus only one) is diverse. The marriage is equal, but the gender pairing is diverse. So, you're right... nothing is EQUAL and DIVERSE because the issue is two different things.

And as far as "blaming society for your insecurities is a sign of immaturity" what insecurites are you talking about? The insecurity that someone *is* gay or has gay friends (since a Gay-STRAIGHT alliance is composed of many straight members)? You sound frustrated that you have to listen to everyone "whine" about *their* rights. Yeah, I'm annoyed sometimes when I hear minorites complain about themselves, but if they are truely being discriminated, then they deserve to.

Twist words? patchbag84 February 13 2004, 12:37:23 UTC
I am sure you know that by elementary I meant it should read "Since society has alienated gay love" rather than "Since society has made gay love alienated". I usually don't criticize grammer, but when someone is being quoted in a newspaper, they should break out the high school vocabulary ( ... )

That was in the mid 1970s, when the only way to find gay men was to go out to a gay club and ask them. People weren't openly gay then. There were gay men in long term, stable, gay relationships, they just weren't open about it ( ... )

I do not like you. Clarify your writing. I really hope you are not an English major because if you are... *shakes fist* But seriously folks, you need to get some things straight (not that you could get any straighter). We are just trying to get the population to accept the non-heterosexual life style as a normal and equal way of living. All straight folk aren't no Sam Seltzer's (what the fuck is that?), and there are plenty of prime ribs among gay couples.

But, like I said, your writing is confusing. So, if all you want is for people to stop bitching about unequal rights then help the mother fucking cause, and get us some equal rights! I assure you, nobody will ever stop bitching about something, but if gay marriages become legal we will try to find something less annoying to bitch about. Like how they never serve bendy straws at fast food places anymore.

I never thought I'd actually try to defend patch..

He's not saying you SHOULDN'T have equal rights he's saying you all are freaking retarded about going about it. What's with the parades? And the Unions (at FSU it's Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans-Sexual Student Union) It kinda seems to me like in trying to become equal all this stand out shit just draws the line more concrete. This isn't the 1960s, it's a new breed of person, you're dealing with people that have been brought up with gays now. This isn't a baby boomer's world anymore, well maybe still right now, but soon we're the ones taking over, if you all would just chill out and live your lifes and quit advertising the differences then it wouldn't be so bad...

Anyway, that's my take.

i dont really have an argument, the only thing was when he said love was equal I took it more as the love between a gay man and another gay man getting married is equal to the love of a straight man to a straight woman who are getting married. But I guess that's open to interpretation.

Dammit I guess I'll have to be little more controversial next time.
