Found out today that I have passed my first two accounting exams with plenty of room to spare. Will now go and celebrate.

If I were a Discworld character I would be the Librarian. Although there was a surprising showing of Oggishness in there.

Been busy at work being sent around various departments in order to get an understanding of how the different parts of the health service fit together. Much chance to ask lots of questions. Even had to scrub up to look round an operating theatre today (although without a patient for obvious reasons). Still very interesting indeed. Have also ( Read more... )

I start my new job later today. Am currently in York where I will do my regional induction (to be followed by a national one, and presumably a local one). Will have to let people know how it goes.

Seems to be a lot of this going around the interweb at the moment...

Now seems next to certain that I will start a new job on 4th September - on the NHS Financial Management Training Scheme which means both a rather useful pay rise, having to do exams again (for the CIPFA professional accountancy qualification) and becoming a member of a Students' Union again (New College ( Read more... )

Internet returned on Friday afternoon, just a few hours before we went away for the weekend (third anniversary thang) to Northumberland. Have somehow avoided melting. My home internet connection is dead, deceased, no more, and I'm not due to get one back until the 21st. Perhaps BT will deliver better service than Tiscali and not pass me round (literally) in a circle when trying to sort out problems.

Grrrr.

Also, hurrah for the library!

Am tired tired - obviously fell out of practice at working full time. Have started the new job. Spent the day learning about housing benefit, assembling Ikea furniture for the flats and painting cupboards ready for the first arrivals next week.
