Dylan and his brigade are off to Afghanistan. I'm worried and anxious, yet proud of what he has made of himself. He's in a Brigade Support Battalion (BSB) rather than a Combat Team, however both convoys and patrols are subject to ambush and attack. Here I am at the Half Moon Inn in Culver City, CA. It's a fun little place. In places with real seasons the windows do more than keep the rain out. The double-panes deaden the noise as well as keep the heat in. No such luck in SoCal. Traffic noises, tavern concerts, people on their cell phones down the hall all come through with great fidelity. I'm doing relief work in El Centro for the next two weeks. It's been feast and famine so far as work goes. Yesterday it was non-stop from the moment I walked in.
