It's good to see that we can still rely on disasters to bring out both the best and worst in people. Facebook is full of people wanting arsonists 'burnt at the stake' or 'chained to a tree in front of the next bushfire' and such things. Went to the cricket last night. Most bizarre match I've ever seen.

I stumbled apon this old article on digg and it got me thinking about something that was discussed at school yesterday. The article itself was a fairly decent read and it was interesting to see young kids getting so involved in deep issues. There is a (somewhat well known) problem that I give my year 7's to work on for whole numbers called '4 fours'. The problem is to create expressions that equal the numbers 1-100 using exactly four occurances of the number 4 and a group of common operations. Eg. 0 = 4 + 4 - 4 - 4, 1 = 44/44, ....

Since aeliel posted her opinion of the movie I thought I'd give my 5c for all and sundry to read. I thought that the movie had a very similar feel to the books, an extremely disjointed and forced feel to it's storytelling.
