I just refreshed at one of the adoptable sites/forums that I frequent and noticed that I had a PM. Thinking it was in response to a note I put in my signature a few minutes before I clicked on it. I stared at the message I received stunned to say the least. It was from one of the moderators of the forum (in fact the head mod) and it said:

So far so good. Today I managed to shut down a spam/porn thread just after it was opened (and before anyone had a chance to report it!). My first time wielding the ban-hammer.

Oh wow, that's neat! My husband is a mod on his car website. It's not all that taxing, but I know it can change drastically from one forum to the next.

So far it's been fairly easy since I said yes. I actually had a "Yahoo!" moment today. I managed to be in a certain area just as a spam/porn thread was posted. I shut it down so fast I don't think anyone even saw it but me. I know it was pure coincidence that I was in the right place a the right time, but it still makes you feel good inside.
