Entry #22

Oct 30, 2006 15:12

Ugh, I'm so ill. Really, I feel disgusting. I have, like, a cough/cold headache/fever and stuffy nose all at once. I can't even sit up in bed without feeling dizzy. Dawlish isn't going to be very happy with me - I've only called in sick once before and already he thinks I'm a malingerer. Bastard.

Changing the subject: Mr Zabini, my condolences.

You get some rest now, Penelope. I'm taking the last part of Marcus's shift so that he can leave early to check on you because I think he does need a bit of help telling you how he feels, whether he admits it or not.

Believe me, as I can't physically do anything but stay in bed right now, resting isn't going to be a problem.

If Marcus is wise, he won't bother. I think whatever this is that I've got could infect anyone within a hundred yard radius.

Well, at least you know he'll be on hand if you need anything If he's smart, he'll at least offer her a cuppa and a back rub.

I could bring you some extra pillows and hex Dawlish write Dawlish a very angry letter, if you'd like.

I don't think that angry letters would help but the pillow would be nice. That's actually a very nice thought. What's he up to? As long as you're not afraid of germs.

A very angry letter then? I can't let him get away with it.

Germs, shmerms. I'll be right over after work. Anything else?

Seriously, Marcus, it's OK. Probably best not to interfere. Shacklebolt knows already, so just let him deal with it.

Alright then, fearless one, hate to sound exploitative but a cup of tea would be quite nice once you get back in.

I'm sorry to hear that you're ill. Anything I can do to help, then? I'll be able to take a few of your shifts if you'd like, and if Dawlish says anything... well, according to records (yes, I've checked), two years ago he called in on Boxing Day because he was hung-over. So really, he has no room to talk about others doing so for perfectly VALID reasons.

Ha! I knew he was a bloody hypocrite!

Well, well, well. You really do learn something new every day.

I think I'm alright for the moment, actually. I probably just need fluids and rest to get rid of this thing, whatever it is.
