I made an old favorite dish tonight: Chicken Pad Thai. I'd forgotten how delicious this is, especially prepared fresh. I'd also forgotten how much heat some chili sauce and vinegar can generate! I had a rewarding case of the full head sweats going. I haven't done that in quite awhile. I'd also forgotten that it can be a tasty vegetarian dish, too ( Read more... )

The tinkerer in wouldn't leave this simple salad alone. I had to add a few things. Just for some color and texture. I added some jullienned radish, chopped green onion and mung bean sprouts. All Thai ingredients! The results were outstanding! Here's the revised recipe ( Read more... )

There's a very large, former US Steel warehouse near work that now houses, among other businesses an artist colony. These 2 guys have been moved across the street while the 3rd is being built. Pretty cool neighbors, eh?

I had a wonderful time today. The 2nd annual St Jerome BBQ was a terrific event. Lot's of food, fun and fellowship. There were almost double the number of entrants in the chili cook off this year as there were last year. 15! That meant at least 15 spoonfuls of chili and in most cases 30 for all the tasters.
