The Demotion of Love

Jun 12, 2005 14:57

This morning after Church, the Ferguson family gathered round the table for lunch at Pasquales, as custom dictates. And I had opened the Random semi-Intelligent Conversation/Argument (RICA) for the day with an analogy to Star Wars for why love can't be an emotion, relating it back to a RICA discussion mom and I had had a few nights earlier about ( Read more... )

Two obvious facts:

1. We know love is a verb because D.C. Talk had a song by that title about 10 years ago. And D.C. Talk is always right. And so is your mother, have you learned nothing?!?

2. Keeping an emotion under control doesn't mean it isn't still an active emotion. You should know that, too. Don't try to use logic, little girl, you're only gonna get yourself hurt. *stiffles a big honkin' chauvinist grin*

3. Oh, and for good measure...Judson is cool.

*thwack* with my mighty toothpick of doom and smitingness! Back ye demon, back I say.

My mother says "Every now and then you are right on, but it's so few and far between. It's like a man whose been beaten with a toothpick."

And I collapse with laughter.

Funny she thinks it so rare; generally the same thoughts tend to be on the tip of our respective tongues. I guess we're respectively infrequently right on yet both always indefinitely correct. *flex* Takes talent.

Watch that toothpick - ya might poke yer eye out.

I think it's because we share the same brain. Want to switch halves sometime? Or maybe we are brain twins, separated at birth. Or did you mean that you and mom are brain twins? I find that more likely, in some weird way. I got nothin.

Toothpicks are for beating, not poking. Silly man.

I think love only becomes an emotion in the Jedi sense when coupled with passion, such as with Anakin and Padme. To me Obi-Wan loves Anakin as a brother would, but is not filled with that passion that could sway his actions...or maybe he is...? ** is slightly confused by own statement**

Let me go see it again and get back to you!

Oh, how I miss meal times with the Ferguson family. Weighing in on important matters about the meanings of life. Laughing at the person who makes a non-sensical comment. Getting red in the face when you are the person who makes the non-sensical comment. Granny arguing about something entirely different, but still saying "speaking of" as if it had somethig to do with the conversation. Ah, those were the days.

Yes, as the only sensible person with anything of any meaning to say, you should join Family Fighting and Eating Time more often. It would be delightful.
