(Visiting from etfb's friends list). Good luck with the weather in Milford Sound! We went around this time of year and it was blowing a gale and we could barely see anything. It was the only day of crappy weather for our entire holiday - typical! But the glow worm cave was absolutely fabulous, and the Kingston Flyer lots of fun. Waah! Now I want to go back again... *is jealous*

We had great weather the first week and crap weather the second week.

We had stunning weather the day we cruised Milford Sound but the weather turned foul later that day. We headed down to Invercargill that night where is proceeded to blow a literal gale for a few days. We missed out on our planned trip to Steward Island because the ferries and planes weren't running in the 140km winds. We drove through the Catlins on two occasions but the penguins, seals and birdlife were smarter than us because they weren't out in that weather.
