The first day I'm well enough to leave the apartment
I do the two obvious things:
1) Mail my publication agreement for that paper.
2) Buy a kumquat tree.

Daylight Savings Time
It apparently starts March 29th in the EU, rather than today, as in the US. So for 21 days we'll have an 8-hour time difference between here and the US, instead of 9 hours ( Read more... ) -
Aargh! Dunno about moving, now.
It turns out I could keep the quieter room after all. There is still some noise here, but the crazy woman doesn't go upstairs much, so it's basically OK. OMG, actually, better than OK, I can feel my sanity slowly coming back (just exactly like the green sanity meter filling up in "Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem"). The crazy lady saga continues ...
That crazy woman woke me up before 7 (on a Saturday!) moving furniture, shaking the room and seeming incredibly loud even through my earplugs. She did it for hours and I never got back to sleep, even though I took a valium and had taken a sleeping pill. When I briefly took the earplugs out, I was astonished at how much noise I hadn't even been ( Read more... ) -
Hurricane in Catalonia
Yesterday there was a massive storm here, with winds so high that walking was slow and arduous. During the night, the rattling and whistling drowned out even the crazy lady upstairs (though thankfully my earplugs blocked out most of both); here on the 6th floor the winds were very strong. I saw many downed palm trees, including one that had fallen ( Read more... ) -
Update:
Apparently the woman upstairs is acting insane because she is, in fact, actually insane. I mentioned "la señora arriba" to my landlady this morning and she went on a long, long rant about how awful this woman is. So I wasn´t completely overreacting; she really is nuts. Why else would you wear high heels and move furniture every morning for over ( Read more... )
