My Chemical Romance fic - a rec list for newbies
I've seen this in spuzz's journal yesterday and apparently, a few people on her flist are doing it as well.
So here is my take on the MCR FIC FOR NEWBIES rec list.
This list is obviously non exhaustive.
I tried to include my all time favorites but I probably forgot a lot of fantastic stories.
Unequivocal by stereomer
This was one of the first story I read in this fandom. Well, one of the longest. I had fallen headfirst into Frank/Gerard already but this story made me fall in love with the pairing even more.
It's one of those stories you read and think, this has to be canon, right? Everything in this story feels real. This is my personal canon for the band and I refuse to believe otherwise.
Nightswimming by wax_jism
Sometimes, you read a story and you get so caught up in it you never want it to end. That's the case with Nightswimming. I love the feel of the story. It's so wonderful that I tend to go back and read my favorite parts again, just to remember how it felt the first time.
Skin of the Canvas by sinsense
I've been reccing this story ever since I joined bandom. This wasn't the first story I read but definitely the one that spoke to me the most.
I love how Sinsense writes and the way she deals with Gerard's addiction feels true.
The Anatomy of a Fall by novembersmith
I fell in love with this story so hard. It was so amazing that I decided to take a few days to read it, make it last because I knew I would enjoy the shit out of it.
So every day, I would come home from work and read a small part. I couldn't wait for the next day and the next chapter of this epic.
Then I finished it and I was sad to leave this universe.
It's heartbreaking. It's so well written I want to read it over and over.
The Unholyverse by bexless
This verse is a one of the classics. If you're starting in bandom, this is a must read.
Fantasy Book by cimorene
The best porn you will ever read. This story is basically porn and then more porn with a side serving of porn. I often come back to this story because the porn is just too delicious.
I'm Not Sleeping (Trust Me) by dsudis
Another story I want to believe is canon. It's set during the filming of the I'm Not Okay video.
Buy Handmade by jjtaylor
A story that makes you feel good.
Frank is not happy with his life and he actually does something drastic to fix it when he starts working at a bakery.
I have these moments in my life when I realize I'm meant to do something else, something better and this story is telling me to do it; to go for it and not be afraid to make changes.
I Was Your Silver Lining by shoemaster and theopteryx
A lovely story. I have a thing for werewolves and soul-mates and this story as it all. I think it might be one of my favorite werewolf stories.
Somewhere Between the Turning Signal Clicks by sleepingcities
This is short but oh so fantastic. Mel writes so well. It's a hot van days fic you will want to check out.
A Blue Ribbon on My Brain by lovebashed
Another one of my favorite short stories. It was written for porn battle. It has wings too. It's ethereal and poetic. It's gorgeous.
frank/gerard college au not!fic by mxtape
Oh God. I don't even know where to start. This story is epic and magnificent. There's so much UST you could cut it with a knife. Boys being oblivious idiots is probably one of my favorite fic tropes and this story does it so well.
A World So Small by jezrana/wordslinging
Hands down my favorite historical AU. Hands fucking down.
This is wonderful. Jezrana is always so great with historical AUs.
Another must read on my list.
