yes, this is a pretty direct rant, but i feel that i need to say it because i think that soon, i'll be listening to about 1/2 the school saying the same things about college and i want it all out now

hear hear! you've said it all and more. people automatically think that ivy league = a superior education, but that's not true. the place where you will learn the most is the one that you feel the most "right" in. and on the subject of money...one might get accepted to harvard...but you'll only go if the parents can pay for it.
yeah... i understand what you're saying, but... for me, at least, going to a lesser-known college, however fitting it might be, just isnt an option.
mai dad has flat-out told me that i can pay mai own goddamn college tuition if i dont go an an ivy or equivalent.
it's the opposite of your problem... but money's a double-edged sword like that -- in the end, it's their money, and they're the ones who decide how much and where to pay.
on the plus side, though, there's always financial aid, student loans, and scholarships... if you realli want st. john's that bad, you should probably look into that...
