That is a great achievement. But the threat of Iraq hanging over it all is really quite tragic. They are talking about withdrawing and that they will halve troops by the of 2006 but who knows? How they think that staying there will achieve anything though is bizarre.
I know Bushwalker - the Iraq situation has given me alot of insomnia. We have National Public Radio (NPR) which is a more leftist organization than most radio stations) in America. It is similar to - well- I can't remember the name of the excellent radio stations you have over in Australia but they have alot of discourse on current events etc and the programs are really well produced. On NPR recently they have been interviewing the families of soldiers, sailors, and airmen/women killed in action. It is heavy, and difficult to listen to the raw emotions of the bereaved. But, as always, I have to remember to honor my daughter's decision to join the Navy, and to remind myself that regardless of my own 'stuff', I need to support her diligently and so, yeah...its gonna be quite the journey I think...she actually is very conflicted about Iraq, and if going there does come into her future, she said she would apply to go to Afghanistan.....however after reading Vasco Pyjama's journal.....holy crap! I don't know which setting would be worse
I've heard NPR here in Melbourne - it's on News Radio which you can probably find as a link on the ABC radio website. It sounds like you've really got your arms full with parenting teenagers. Little people, little problems, big people, etc..

I do! Believe me, I do:) I have 3 kids, and it keeps me (emotionally) very busy sorting through all the issues that come up. The cooking, cleaning etc is a piece of cake, when compared to the *stuff, the day to day problems and concerns that come with raising older offspring.
Bravo to her! You definitely should feel proud; training is a b*tch (not that I would know but I've heard...). I'll keep my fingers cross for you and her that neither Iraq nor 'Stan is in her future, nor anywhere they might be shooting at her for that matter. Huzzah!!
