The word orange came from the name of the fruit, which likely came from the Sanskrit word naranga, which was derived from Tamil(Dravidian possibly?) word naru, which means fragrant. The Persians borrowed the word, where it became narang, then it became naranj when the Arabs got a hold of it, then it became Orenge when the french got it, then the became "orange" when the English took it from the french in the fourteenth century.
