At work again...This is my long week and I won't get to see my fiancee much at all. The 1/2 hour in the morning just isn't enough.  We try to see each other in the evenings, but that doesn't always work out. I really, really want off nights.

With all the sadness going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey."  He died peacefully at the age of 83.  The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin.  They put his left leg in.  And then the trouble started ( Read more... )

The bad thing about being a dispatcher and being the one to get all the calls about injured and dead people is that you can't help but wonder if one of them is someone you know and love. I'm very lucky to have the people in my life that I do... mainly my boyfriend who treats me like I'm the most precious thing in the world to him. He constantly makes sacrifices for me. For instance, he drove me to work this evening, brought me a coat at 1:00am and will pick me up at 6:00am all because I asked. He will be missing out on something ( Read more... )

I work the graveyard shift now from 6pm-6am...normally I wouldn't mind, but because my boyfriend works a normal 8-5 shift I never get to see him. I get edgy and unhappy when I don't get to spend quality time with him. It makes it hard for us to have a life that is more than just a quick hi and bye. It's driving me nuts ( Read more... )
