Well, I'm sure that friendship IS merit-based, just not that way. even if everything academic totally fell through, I'd still love you, because who you are is what I think merits that! I definitely dont care about your thesis being done, because I *still* can't really say I fully understand what it even is. of course, I know it matters to you, which is really the only reason it's of any interest.

probably the same way I doubt you care how well i do when conducting interrogations. but you think I am REALLY awesome either way, I know ;-)

Yeah, me too. At least re: hermitting. I've been shit at getting out of the house, and it's because I've been feeling so fucking depressed and overwhelmed. I'm working on it now though. Blargh.

I miss you and love you and also don't base that on how you are conducting your life. You're a great person and one of the most important people in my life. Remember "we would all feel better if we could see ourselves the way our best friends do" I can't wait till you move your butt back here so I can see you more often. I'm sure you'll get through this. Everyone needs a little solitude every once in awhile. It's good to know that you like yourself and can be with yourself and don't always NEED people around.

A little advice: Don't beat yourself up because right now you prefer solitude to company, and that it's taking you a long time to swim from deep water to shore. Own and accept what you're feeling now and let it be.

i don't spend time with you because you haven't finished your thesis.

of course, that is an indirect reason, since once you finish your thesis i'm hoping you'll move back to the states and be much more local! i really do miss you, darlin'!
