Caerphilly

Caerphilly is now over and done with.  I only have two grated fingers, one skinned knuckle and two large burns to show for it - and the fighters think that only they suffer for their Art! J

In the end I enjoyed myself, and I am glad that the feast went out on time and suitably edible.  However I really could have done without cooking another feast.  ( Read more... )

I will be teaching a class on running an event kitchen - not about recipes or authentic/period food - but rather the logistics side of things.

I might teach it at coronation or Raglan - not sure which yet.

Also worth putting in stuff about SCA specific 'needs'? (fast release/slow release carbs immediately out for the refreshment of hungry fighters, for example- one of the great things about bread and honey butter, IMO, although I believe ormsweird's flapjacks got descended on at speed when she's done them at fighting events- just not sure if they're documentable!)

Baroness Mary thought she was doing reservations for Raglan. Might be worth you both having a chat!

And yes, few people think of the cooks work before the day of the feast, of which there can be quite a lot!

And the cooks spouses suffering for the art ;) Nobody considers them!

I'd note that by _far_ the highest number of SCA injuries are in the kitchen, per Chirurgeons reports.

Nope - she probably still is.

I am only doing reservations for the Coronet part of Raglan which is being run by Flintheath. Confusing I know! There will be an evening coronet feast which people have to reserve and pay extra for (much like what was done for the last Viceroy tourney).

Ahh cool, as long as there aren't crossed wires.

And...

It was a very good feast, though - I particularly liked the lamb!

the amount of prep work is huge, for cooking. But I miss it, I miss doing the cooking but the people here..*shrug* its just not happening.

If you need to cut back, cut back.

I miss Caerphilly!
