Okay, time for another recap fest. But never fear, kind readers; I actually have a little meat to go with the same old bones this time around. So stick with me here, I may actually keep your interest a little

dude, I'm basically in the dark regarding everything dragonfly-wise, the only real thign I's seen is the script for the first ep, and a verbal agreement that you'd get speaking roles for your friends in it.
How exactly does the pantheon and dying work? Being in the presence of the heavens and deities? What about passing beyond the beyond? Becoming a spectre? Why and how does it happen in our universe? How will limited daily spells be explained (hopefully less mechanically and more loose and magical in the Dragonfly universe). Please tell me there is more logic based scenarios and solutions in Dragonfly the series. Make Hobgoblin run in there but giveit more depth. any ideas for that? How's the whole Galen in the city of the army of undead gonna pan out? Are the group gonna see a little combat with the masses, or will a quick step out be our best plan, series-wise? How early will you feed into hints about Darian and Freeman... the longer standing a bad guy is, the more impact he has. Just a thought... I'll be back with more, these are the ones off the top of my head.
Much Love, Adam M. Glazier (Aquarius Extraordinaire)
The pantheon is divided, much like in D&D (or more aptly classic Greek and Japanese mythos) by concept... a goddess of darkness, god of light, god of death, goddes of life, god of strength, goddess of wisdom, goddess of nature, god of magic (these would be the only major gods connective to the complete historical mythos of the series, though there are other gods. Most of the minor gods are only really respected in the Eastern lands, where prayer customs dictate prayer and sacrifice to any gods your life comes into contact with, no matter how minor (taken from ancient concept in Japanese mythos where all things have a god, from swords to frogs to willow trees). Death falls directly between the realms of the god of death and goddess of life, where both (through celestial agents of each)review the person's life and decide where best they belong. Anyone whose life had a greater than average impact on the world will often have an agent of their patron god argue for them, in favor of taking them into that god's realm rather than the
( ... )
The affect of the gods is in a sense, bipolar. They control, to an extent, all things that fall under their select focus. However, they make a point not to effect things directly too often, or in such a manner that it is overly extravagent. The reason is a ratio of acceleration; the other gods trust each other far less after the fall of the goddess of darkness and subsequent arguements amongst the gods over dividing her treasures and their own realms. Any advancement of their influence could lead to the other gods increasing theirs, up and up and up until the power struggle explodes into outright warfare, this time with a free for all that likely would slay many of them and obliterate the world in the wake of the fight. However, this does not extend to powers and influences they all already share... hence why Clerics, Paladins, etc. hold power, but not overwhelmingly so in spite of their connections to the very forces that shape the world.
Passing on or not is based often in choice and power of will. If a person has a strong enough will and directly refuses to "head towards the light", so to speak, they will be able to remain in spectral form on the world until they have completed whatever task they had clung to so tightly it infused them with the power to remain. If the goal coinsides with a certain god's realm, they may 'under the table' sneak them a little extra power to give them a boost towards their desires.
Ok Alex-san. Haruko...what's her backstory? Where is she coming from and how does that bleed into how she acts? What does she look like? Likes? Dislikes? Friends? Enemies? Lovers? Ready? Go! ^_^
Haruko Crest was born in 1302 A.C. (After Cataclysm) on a small island in the Sea of Quiet Souls. Her father, a former warrior for hire, would often regale his three daughters (of which Haruko was the youngest) with his stories of battle and honor. His two older daughters took it in stride, but Haruko was entranced. Her mind became filled with images of her playing the brave warrior, and began to secretly train herself at night with faux swords made from downed tree limbs. One night, however, tragedy struck as the quiet village they lived in was attacked by slaver-mercs, men who made their living off of hunting down, capturing, and selling humans on the black market. Haruko's father, trying to defend his family, was slain by them, and her family- along with her -were taken across the sea to their camp in the border-coast of the Eastern lands. The idea, as they gladly informed their captives, was to sell them to the Underworld, a series of elaborate underground caverns and civilizations running chiefly under the Sea and Eastern

Haruko Crest, 18 years of age in Season 1, stands aproximately 6'0", with a decent but not extreme muscular build on a 30-24-30 form. She has pale near-carrot-orange hair and glistening yellow eyes, calm but focused by nature. Her hair is cut in a Gidget-like bob, short curved bangs, with the back ending just below the start of the neck. However, it extends the closer it gets to her ears, ending with the last of her hair extending to the base of her neck just past her ears. Her attire consists of a loose tunic and pants, underscored by a chain shirt and greeves and tight bandages wrapping and covering her much like an undershirt or underwear would. All this is capped off with a pair of old leather boots, fingerless gloves, and whatever sword she has on hand at the time. Mind you, this is her Season 1 look; Season 2 differs quite a bit, understandible since she then becomes a core cast member.
Haruko is a dedicatedly strong person, and tries to have it show in just about everything she does. Part of her fears showing weakness, so she even tries to convince herself she is strong and willing to do anything to attain her goal. The fact, however, remains that at heart she is a good and selfless person; she proves this when she risks her life to protect a girl about to be crushed by falling debris. This selfless act earns her what she came for; a sword custom made for her by Shinobi, and in addition, Shinobi's respect and friendship. The sword he gives her, Fate, is a massive two-handed sword with a four inch wide and five foot long blade (with an extra foot and an inch added on for the guard and handle). Etched into the blade is an elderich rune for Fate

Benjamin "Benji" Zane is the son of Albert Zane, one of the heads of the Royal Crimson Guard. As far as his backstory is concerned, there isn't much of one, and that's on purpose. He grew up hearing his father's stories of legendary Guardsman in their family, the line of which goes back about as far as the kingdom has existed, and wanted to be one as well. His father used to be an ally of Chou Hyun, and as such, was able to get him into Chou Hyun's monastery so his training could more comprehensive. Here he rooms with Seta, an young Elven swordsman. He utilizes the Royal Crimson Guardsman style, a Lancer-esque style using polearm weapons to pin and defeat numerous foes at once. As for his status, he is a main character, a member of the core cast through Season 1, and as of now a main character through Seasons 2, 3, and 4 as well. In short, the full run of Dragonfly. Any more questions?
Re: On the Personal Account of A Mr. ZanepoiuppxAugust 23 2004, 23:11:53 UTC
Cripes, I must be slipping... his persona. Well, effectively, Benji is what you would call 'the realistic one'. Imagine you are thrust into massive adventures, forced to face uneven odds, inhuman evils, and in the end it falls on you to save the world. Now imagine that following these insane adventures, risking your life and all you hold dear, you get dragged in to do it again. And again. And again. He starts out through Season 1 trying his damnedest to keep up with the angsty uber-powered wackos he holds court with, and does a fair job of it. But there is a part of him at the start of every season after that that'll want to get the hell out of dodge. But ultimately, if his friends need him, he will be there. Loyal doesn't even begin to describe it... if they needed it, he would do ANYTHING for the group without hesitation. He's a genuine good hearted man, unclouded by hate or angst, by desires for vengence or for proving something to himself. More than any other main cast member, he is an everyman.

as in your own words: "As a person with extremely limited knowledge, then you'd have tons of questions resultingly... like, what it is, what it is about, genre, style, all those kinds of things. So... fire away!"
I have almost no clue what exactly Dragonfly is about other than an anime project you are doing with some of your friends back home which may have been inspired by a D&D campaign (im not even sure of that). As such i have almost no clue what it actually is besides an anime, such as some of the questions above... genre, style, time period, setting, what its about, etc. etc... as from the posts above i can only assume it takes place in feudal japan/other oriental style world.

Yo~! Dragonfly is right now a story that my main man is coming up with. It is mostly based of the D&D game that we have been playing for I don't know how long >< I will let PoiuppX explain it fully since I will most likey say something incorrect. But basically think of 'Record of Lodoss Wars' It doesn't take place in an oriental world but it does have oriental elements to it but not necissarily the biggest part. Anyways I have a couple character sketchs drawn up and some random location sketches. Plus the layout for the first couple pages. . .Maybe I will feel inspired and start working on it more instead of maybe once a month or so.
I need to hit chip up and party with him again next time I can. But for now I gots to go now classes early tomorrow and Japanese, well I guess I will meet the new Japanese exchange student tomorrow ^^ the two girls from last year will leave lasting memories ^_~
