Pricey

We've been eating out most days because of the state of the kitchen- and we're getting tired of it. Yesterday we bought a take away at a Chinese place in Norman's Bay and parked up by the roadside at Cooden Beach. We were congratulating ourselves on the cheapest meal of the week when a couple of very nice young people in uniform showed up to ( Read more... )

Yow! Ninety GBP. That had to hurt in the pocket!

Do you have a separate dining area or dining room, and is there any way to turn that into a sort of camp/field kitchen? A two-burner hot plate, perhaps, for cooking simple meals (or, an electric wok if you're into using woks---doesn't have to be for Chinese recipes, necessarily)?
And forgive me that I'm not remembering whether or not you have already said that you do or don't have the use of your refrigerator---but do you have?
I'd go mad if I had to rely on eating out, or eating take-away "in."

Do your repair/remodeling fellows have an endpoint in mind for all the kitchen re-do, one in the comparatively near future, it's to be hoped?

We could be cooking in another room- and we have the gear to do it- but neither of us is thrilled by the idea. Come the weekend we'll have access to the kitchen.

The kitchen redo is taking longer than anticipated because of these major structural problems they've uncovered.

Oh, I understood that when you talked about that nearly-compost "plate" recently discovered.
Dod, man, I don't envy you!

The work is cracking on. The end is perhaps a fortnight away. It's been an experience....

That does sound rather awful of the two blues. I would have thought that they could have given you a warning instead of a fine. So yeah I am annoyed you got fined and not simply warned.

There were warning signs, but we didn't see them. Nor did we look out for them because last time we were down that way they didn't exist and lots of people were parking on the beach.

Actually we did.

And it makes a good story.

I would rather not have lost £90, but apart from that my main emotion was and is amusement.....

In the US, considering that the pair of you were still in the car at the time, you could take it to court and challenge that fine...

We could, but neither of us fancy putting in all the effort it would entail.

As they say in old movies about Scotland Yard, it was "a fair cop".
