162.4That was the number on my scale this morning. Last Thursday the number was 158.6. The week before 157.6. The week before that 157. Back in January after I got back from Cancun it was 155-ish. At the end of Janny Craig in December it was 152. Before I started Jenny Craig it was 167. After New Zealand it was 169 (Jan 2007) and after Alaska ( Read more... )

I can understand your frustration. I was never able to diet and lose weight. Then I started walking, perhaps three times a week. Then I advanced to running.

I've had a hard time holding onto weight ever since.

I don't seem to lose weight with regular exercise. When I regularly trained and raced triathlons I weight about 153 and never lost an ounce. I suspect my eating keeps pace with my exercise.

That said, I had been fairly sedentary of late, so I have stepped it up the last 2 weeks. More resistance training and more regular, sweaty cardio.

Yeah, for me the only thing that works is sweaty cardio and resistance training. However, that could be because I have zero willpower when it comes to dieting -- it is very, very hard for me to restrict my intake to the point of weight loss.

I am trying really hard this spring to get back into a healthy exercise schedule -- I have been horrible about it all winter and have definitely put on a little weight. It's too bad we can't work out together! Sometimes it makes it easier for me to go to the gym if I've made a commitment to go there with someone else. :)

Working out with other people is great--but it can be double edged because if you're not careful you can pick a partner who is good at talking you out of exercising. For a while Jeff and I were supposed to work out together, but he is lazier than me and does a good deal of physical activity at work, and is not overweight. Often we'd end up hanging out and not exercising. Now I have to train myself mentally that company is good, but I often need to have inspiration for both of us.

Good luck with getting back to a good routine. I'm still wiggling around trying to figure mine out. I signed up for a lot of resistance band classes to get me on track.
