Right now i'm eating curry rice, with a hot dog chopped up in it. :( I'm moving soon and I refuse to go grocery shopping until I eat all the food I have, so nothing goes to waste.
I was just wondering what strange food combinations you guys have eaten when you were low on money and only eating things that were already in your pantry!

One of the specials at a restaurant I worked at was were the tilapia quesadillas (spinach tortilla, refried beans, cheese, fish, pineapple and salsa). Delicious.

When I make macaroni and cheese, after I add the cheese packet I add some spaghetti sauce and garlic powder to give it some flavor. Its delicious!

Other stuff I like to do that are actually useful is to add frozen mixed veggies to my mac and cheese.
Not really strange but spaghetti noodles with Parmesan, sun dried tomatoes and spinach is especially good. Just mix the tomatoes and spinach after you've drained the noodles, the leftover heat cooks the spinach.
Also, fried rice! Just leftover rice in a pan with frozen mixed veggies or whatever you've got on hand, scrambled eggs or baby shrimp is a fav in my family, toss until the rice is browned, add salt, pepper and/or soy sauce to taste and you're done!

Oddest was probably adding garlic salt, zucchini and cheese to the pancakes, though just for true weirdness the BF tossed chocolate chips on his too when we were given a bag o_O I think I remember it tasted edible with the chocolate and all. Maybe. Peanut butter/jelly pancakes, pizza pancakes, egg roll veggie pancakes and such also figured in sometimes, along with anything else that can be added to a cheap starch. Those bags last a long time, and we topped 'em with anything we had.
