This one is titled "blood and superstition"

step oneFrom the wound's shallow escape rivulets of blood ran down my skin onto the white linoleum floor. I had cut myself in the kitchen, being clumsy, being careless. I thought of nothing, fallen, prepared detached objectivity to move my eyes and assess the damage. The incision wasn't deep enough to ( Read more... )

I forgive you. You are, after all, a boy. :) And boys sometimes have a hard time understanding how much love there is in the world for them. Especially when they're very loved indeed.

Boys do tend to have a problem with this. Although at 30 years old I'm not so sure if "boy" would be the right word for me, if you're colloquially referring to the male gender in general though then I'm still agreeing with you.

If boys experienced more love when they were younger, like how I was, I think the world would be a much better place.

Can't You See I Want You By The Way I Push You Away; Don't Judge Me Tomorrow By The Way I Act Today luckaduck June 2 2006, 05:15:32 UTC
My Mom collects ladybug things (stuffed animals, ceramic containers, assorted jewelry) because she believes they're lucky. This is one of her idiosyncrasies that make me sad that we don't know each other better. I remember one time when a ladybug flew in through the doorway on a nice spring afternoon and landed on her knee. It crawled up on her finger and then it flew away, and she was happy for the rest of the day.

The Slim-Fast bars also remind me of Mom. She loves her Slim-Fast, but she does it all wrong. You know the commercials are like "one for breakfast, one for lunch, and a sensible dinner?" She drinks them as supplements to her regular meals of pot pies and TV dinners. None of us kids are in the house, so she doesn't cook (from scratch) anymore. I like Slim-Fast too, especially the Strawberry Creme, but for obvious reasons, Mom doesn't like me liking Slim-Fast.

I guess I've been thinking about Mom lately since I'm returning to Washington so soon. Go fig.

Hey. Hey. Hey. Get tangled up in me.

I like to mix the Slim-Fast thing up. Like I'll have one for breakfast, have a real lunch, and then a shake for dinner. Or I'll just eat breakfast and do the Slim-Fast thing for the rest of the day. The little snacks they also sell, I don't really do that. They always have this faint taste reminiscent of cardboard to me.

If Slim-Fast made a shake with caffeine in it I'd be a customer of theirs for always.

Very apropos. :) And I'd like to thank you for your effort to dig that one up.

It kind of reminds me of an illustrated version of A Softer World.

Good stuff, from what I can see..I wish I had money these days. But that's probably because I'm either a good capitalist or a bad capitalist depending on how one wants to look at it.

I'm jealous. Everything around here bloomed two months ago, now it's all starting to die in the heat. The months without the letter "R" in their names are pretty hot, uncomfortable and ugly in this part of the world.

Feeling loved is amazing, and knowing it is even better.

And, I think that was one smart ladybug. You are charmed, charming... I like that, it reads like a companion piece, an update, to the one you wrote about the mosquito last summer.

Love the song; I think you should keep up the mp3 posting (how does one do that, will you enlighten me?).

The only reliable way I found to do this costs money, but not every much money..

Ezarchive.com allows for an account with free 100 Mg storage, although to share audio files you have to upgrade for like $7/year. A lot of the mp3 blogs out there use this site, and I've never known it to not be quick and reliable.

I just think it's cool, and probably the next step forward, to go from just mentioning what I'm listening to when I write a post to actually sharing it. Sorta like MySpace except without forcing it on everyone.

A continuation of the mosquito post? I never thought of it that way until you mentioned it, but..

..yeah. :)
