I never had pets (officially) because we always lived in apartments that didn't allow them. I did, however, take care of some strays. I had three that were black and white. I named one of them Oreo, and then the other two looked like photographic negatives of one another, so I named one of them Boots (he was all black except for his white feet) and, for lack of a better name, I named the other one Stoob (he was the backwards version of Boots).
I didn't want to read this entry because it means that we're inching ever closer to seeing the end of Posteverything. And I really like that username. (Oh, and you too, as an afterthought).
Most apartments don't. The Buckley didn't until the new landlord took over and we're steadily gathering all sorts of little animals around here, which is cool. I never saw what the problem is in having a cat or a little dog. A Rottweiler, no.
At this rate though, #30 won't come around for a long time. It was nearly a month since #25 when this one was finished, so you figure with those averages..we're looking at Valentine's Day '07 or something. But I don't think I'm going to leave anybody disappointed. I hope not, anyway.
I read this yesterday and I needed some time to digest it. I don't have much to comment, I just wanted to say "Great work," and I mean it. I really think you should try to publish this.
That's fine because I'm still trying to digest it, too. Thank you for saying but I feel as though almost this isn't something I actually wrote. I'm just not sure how I got to this level.

You go way out of your way to be kind and, something is definitely going on, wind or no wind, I know that much at least. I once knew a homeless poet who used to say "words is my bitch" and while I laughed I kind of wanted to know what he meant. But I would never smack words around, wondering where the money is. Nor would I wear a velvet cape or ever drink malt liquor again.
Oh Koni, dear. You like a lot of other folks are saying that it's sad, but I look at it this way..The Cat has had all sorts of tragic events circle around her, at times they have affected her and other times they don't matter to her at all, but she can still have a Good Life nevertheless. Isn't that us, too?
We are all being left, in one way or another. Even to those out there who look like they have everything they could ever want and nothing they don't, they too know loss. We may feel things a little differently than most but being left behind is a very, very universal thing..
I like the idea, but The Cat is still alive and living in my apartment. She's bored and she poops a lot..much like the rest of us I'd imagine.
See, this is one of those stories where it's at least 75% true, like the major plotlines and such. As far as the rest would be concerned, well, how do we know it didn't happen?
I've never given any real thought to pet-agendas before reading this; it's kind of a neat thing to consider a cat's life from a pet's-eye view. You know who I think would've appreciated this piece as much as I do? That famous cousin of mine. When it comes to "Why?" I can't even articulate, but there's something about it, so just trust me on this one. When I start to get ideas about things, I never know what exactly will come of them, but if I ever become so-inspired, would it be acceptable to you if I wrote a song based on this story? I'd give you credit and everything, of course... if it pans out.
Oh honey, of course you can write a song based on my story. What a very flattering thing, to think that a gal way too far away would make a song from something I wrote. The Internet is actually kind of cool sometimes, you know?
Well, as far as the other point is concerned, I trust you on that one. I'm still not even remotely on Jack's level or anybody else that's famous for that matter, but since the standards have dropped considerably for writing in this century from the last, maybe he'd be pleased. :)

I hope you're happy wherever you are.

I am happy, though. Are you?

It is sad.
But certainly, there must be a happy turn in it... some sort of hidden uptick.
I wish that you would compose music also.
Or poetry, which I could set to music and sing.
You should be sung.

(not that I mean the cat harm, rather it would make a really nice "havin' a good life, right up until the end" story)
