No, but I'm part of _depp. And I know a whole lot of people are using it since I posted it up on a bunch of communities saying that they could take it :P I just joined depp_daily cuz the more Depp communities the better :D

Firstly, as one somewhat familiar with swords and their proper use, gold is the LAST thing you want your hilt to me made of. Or ANY part of the weapon for that matter. It is soft and will damage and break very VERY easily. Compared to steel, you may as well make your sword out of Play-Doh.

Well, I'm gonna go spork out my eyes and cry for a while, and hope that the real Jack Sparrow returns.

Isn't it rather heavy, too? Correct me if I'm wrong, but from reading both Redwall and Encyclopedia Brown books in my youth, I seem to remember that gold is soft and heavy.

My brother and I had a long conversation about all the many different ways that having a sword with a hilt made out of gold wouldn't work.

Our favorite was Sue fighting with it, the hilt bending, and the tang breaking through and stabbing her in her hand.
