Yeah, true. princesskraehe March 8 2004, 08:16:15 UTC
This is only mildly bad. But it still goes along this whole idea that Jack takes pleasure in pissing off women. (Obviously it doesn't, seeing as it generally gets him slapped later.)

Yeah, I was always under the impression that Jack pissed off women, not because he takes special pleasure in it, but because he's sort of unreliable and dishonest and as such falls short of what they expect from him. That or he lives up to their worst expectations.

I think Jack would probably much rather get away with the things that he does to make women angry in the first place, than seek out new women to piss off.

I think there's two kinds of Jack pissing off women. There's the "Did I deserve that?" slap-worthy sort, which I agree is just him being unreliable and dishonest. He'd much rather get away with it, on the whole.

And then there's his general tendency to annoy both men and women for fun. (c.f. Norrington, Elizabeth, Governor Swan...) That's different, because that's him pushing at the comfort levels of "civilized" people for the fun of seeing them get uncomfortable. He keeps it in the realm of mildly annoying -- certainly not cutting clothes off or whatever -- and does it entirely intentionally, but only as a side amusement when he can afford to do so. ("Afford to do so" is a broad term, considering that he prefers to act as if he's holding all the cards even when he's got his hands tied and a gun barrel to his head, but nevertheless.)

NAME: Brenna Gunn

Not mooching names off "Treasure Island", are we?

EYES: "brilliant green eyes" "captivating green eyes"

Why are green eyes always so much more captivating than, say, brown or hazel eyes, when it comes to Sue descriptions? I have green eyes, and no one really notices. It doesn’t make you special, Suethors! What it does, however, is likely make you sensitive sunlight-not a good trait in the Caribbean! *shakes fist* My great-great-grandmother, who had blue eyes, got glaucoma from living in Hawaii for several years.

Also, hardly any irises can be described as “brilliant” green. But then again, I suppose that’s the whole point-because, after all, having rare-colored eyes is what makes you oh-so-speshul, not having a personality or anything.

Earlier, after she was all TEH HAWT while thinking she was going to be raped and having her clothing artfully cut off (just for you, araeph!), he decided he wanted her.

Aw, thanks! I feel so appreciated.

Sue says that her father will just send assassins to kill her to ( ... )

*sigh*

Have to say this...

every cliche in the book.

And:

Mara: *taps finger against chin* Since she causes Jack to act...

Sorry! *insert pathetic excuse here*

That was beyond silly. There's sexual tension and then there's milking the goddamn cow to oblivion. This was the latter.

Okay. I live in a little place I the locals call Reality. It's underrated, really; the food's good here, and the people are nicer than you'd expect. Anyway, in my world, people do not snuggle up to people who just kidnapped them, stole their stuff, and threatened to rape them. In my world, good men are not amused by threatening to rape women. In my world, kidnappers don't lock themselves in with their own freshly captured hostages unless they want to risk waking up with sharp things in their eyes.

Also in my world, Brenna Gunn is such a stripper name.

Won't someone live in my world with me?

(Though I did find it amusing that Sue falls asleep from the effort of trying to roll Jack over. Come on, the man can't weigh 160 pounds soaking wet. Does she have some sort of muscle disorder?)
