Anterior Placenta, Breech Position

May 01, 2015 11:31

During my visit to the OB, they've determined that my daughter is still breeched at 31 weeks. While they stressed that there's still time for her to turn on her own (and in fact she has done some impressive somersaults just the week before) they did give me a worksheet on positions/exercises to do to help encourage her to turn. They've scheduled ( Read more... )

Ive had lota of versions with each of my kids. I think it mostly depends on the experience of the provider and how comfortable they are. Only 1 version worked for me, but she flipped again later and then thankfully flipped again. My son on the otherhand never budged from his breech position at 20 weeks until he was born at 39 weeks and i did everuthing to try to flip him.

That lines up with my "they will or they won't" findings when looking into things.

My daughter was breech and I tried spinning babies. It seemed to do the trick or she turned on her own but I guess it won't hurt?

I was in a very similar situation. Baby was transverse at 35 weeks with an anterior placenta-- I scheduled a version but tried to turn her on my own using a flashlight. I put the light by my pubic bone. It worked, and I felt her turn! It was such a strange feeling When I went in for the version at 37 weeks I had them verify and sure enough she was head down.

Unfortunately she turned back to transverse by 38 weeks, and was breech by the time I went into labor at 39w4d. Unfortunately I wound up with a c-section, but at least I was prepared.

Good luck!

Neat! I did try the flashlight thing and it worked! Then she spun right back around. I guess I'll keep trying it and hopefully one of these times she'll stay there.

My baby was (footling) breech the entire pregnancy. I had my baby 10 days early because he was still breech and my blood pressure was getting high. (But I didn't have pre-eclampsia)

I had a c-section. My OB told me there was no way my baby was going to turn.

Certainly in my own case, after trying the various positions as well as moxibustion, a version was not performed lightly (and was done by the hospital's head obstetrician) and the staff were fully prepped if needs be. So yes, there can be complications, but if managed properly, only in so far as you'll be giving birth earlier than expected. (My daughter was fully determined to stay where she was, and I therefore had a c-section one week later.)
