Mothering TWO children, both of whom need lots of attention for differing reasons, is tiring!

Ro absolutely adores her little brother, though she's demanding a lot of attention herself in not particularly acceptable ways. We're working on that and have made a lot of headway.

He's up to 10lb 9oz as of today.

Ash rolled over belly to back today.

Turns out the best diapers for Gio Ash right now are these fitted ones that close with a Snappi; they have the right amount of absorption. As anyone who's ever dealt with a super-pee-er knows, this is VERY important. Those plus some lovely wool flannel covers I found work perfectly and he seems comfortable in them. Gio Ash is up to 9lb 6oz and 22 1/4" as of yesterday.

Everyone comments in amazement on how alert, aware and interactive he is. What amuses me is they don't even see the half of it; he's bright-eyed, intent on getting to the bedroom window, determined, very, VERY cognizent of his surroundings, and extremely sweet... as long as he's being held and ( Read more... )

Figured out why Gio Ash gets crankier some times more than others. It's the diapers.

Have a mix of prefolds and fitteds right now. He prefers the fitteds, and I finally figured out why.

He's a boy. The prefolds need to be folded a bit in the middle, and that fold was, um...

Gio Ash just took to the sling like a duck to water. Not even time to go "WTF?" over it, he just settled right in and started nursing in it. It's taking ME longer to get used to it again, in fact.

My milk is mostly in on the left and about halfway in on the right.

He's started to turn orange, as expected.

Holy crap.

Just had the luxury of a hot shower. Took the opportunity to check damage -- a high-speed birth will tend to do at least some damage.

NOTHING. A slight "skid mark" from certain tissues not having time to expand fully, but nothing that won't heal in a week (and I've had worse from bedroom fun, frankly.)
